Women's Institute
With the inaugural meeting held on 31st March 1938, Antrobus WI is a long established and very active group with about fifty members.
Our monthly meetings include a speaker or demonstration on a wide variety of subjects followed by a cup of tea and time to socialise. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and we ensure that no-one is left alone.
Trips are organised to many different places and classes can be arranged to cater for members’ interests.
There are many pursuits for members to enjoy: bowling, darts, walking and scrabble are held regularly and each year we enter individual and combined classes at Cheshire Show, with varied results! We also instigated what has now become the Village Show with classes for all including children.
We provide the catering for all WI and many other Village events.
At the Annual Village Rose Queen Fete, we not only provide the refreshments we also take part in the procession dressed relevant to the theme. These have included a Chinese Dragon, 101 Dalmations, Snow White and the seven dwarfs and a football team.
We are also part of a group with four other local WI’s which meets twice a year and with whom we mix and share outings.
County House in White Friars, Chester, is open four days each week for members and their husbands/partners/friends to have a drink, use the facilities and enjoy a sandwich in congenial surroundings.
As you can see there is plenty to interest everyone, but our strong-point is the FRIENDSHIP and companionship we all share. Everyone is welcome - you don’t have to be able to bake or make jam!! If you don’t want to come alone, we will arrange for someone to accompany you and introduce you to others.
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in Antrobus Village Hall at 7.30pm.
